As our Congress debates how to extend the payroll tax cuts, the issue of the Keystone Pipeline is also attached to the discussion. A 1,700 oil pipeline from Canada to the United States seems like a no-brainer. Matt also argues that we need to "drill, baby drill" here in the United States as well! Next, this past week, President Obama said his vision for America he's fighting for "is the vision that is truest to our history." Obama cites the auto bailout, gays in the military, and heath care. This is the vision truest to our history? How's that hope and change? In the second half of the hour, Matt plays audio of the President taking no blame for the poor economy. Since he has taken office, our debt has increased, unemployment has gone up, and spending is even more out of control. No blame? Again - how's that hope and change? Last, Matt plays the perfect audio from "King of the Hill" to sum up the political state of our welfare system.

As the economy worsens, the issue of unemployment benefits intensifies. This past week, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D) made the bold assertion that extending the extended unemployment benefits would create 600,000 jobs almost instantly. How does that work exactly, Nancy? Rep. Gwen Moore (D) is also up in arms about the proposal for drug testing candidates that wish to get unemployment benefits, citing that it's unconstitutional. Matt asks, "What makes these benefits constitutional to begin with?" At the bottom of the hour, Matt shares his rendition of "T'was the Night Before Christmas". Seems like he's not the only one sharing their version of this poem. On the House floor, Rep. Paul Tonko (D) took a few swipes at the GOP with his own holiday poem. Last, Matt gives his final Christmas greetings to you.
