As Hurricane Irene downgrades to a tropical storm, Matt wonders if the media was over-covering it just a little? Next, a FOX News op-ed piece asks the question, "Do we really need a National Weather Service?" With today's budget problems and debt issues, how much can we really afford to cut from even the NWS? The Clarkcast looks into the points outlined in the article. In the second half of the hour, new audio from former Vice President Al Gore shows how desperate the global warming believers have become. Apparently, global warming skeptics are just as bad as racists... who would have thought? Last, Matt loses his cool on-air after a college in Indiana bans the words to the Star Spangled Banner because the lyrics are "too violent".

In 2008, then-candidate Barack Obama called President George W. Bush "unpatriotic" for the debt accumulation during Bush's two terms. In less than half the time, Obama has racked up more debt than his predecessor! Does that make Barack "unpatriotic"? We'll let you make the call. As the Obama Administration stalls on a "jobs plan", Joe Biden hints that we need more stimulus. Again, does more debt make Barack "unpatriotic"? Next, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) recently had some strong words for President Obama. She also has told the Tea parties they can "go straight to hell". Where's the civility the left was crying for? Stacy Swimp, the President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of Michigan (www.fdfofmichigan.com Opens new window) joins Matt in the second half of the hour to speak about her rhetoric. Stacy also comments on recent remarks by Rep. Allen West (R-FL), describing the Democratic Party as a "plantation" for African Americans here in the United States.
