Frequently Asked Questions

Radio & Streaming Support

What is "streaming radio"?

Streaming radio or "Internet radio" involves a streaming server that presents listeners with a continuous live "stream" of audio, much like traditional radio. The Clarkcast is available in several different outlets, including Internet radio. If you don't live in southeast Michigan and/or don't have access to a radio, you can listen to the show on this website or through a mobile app.

Can anyone call in to the show?

Yes! Give us a call while we're live. Keep in mind: (1) your call may not be taken by the host given time restraints, (2) your call will be recorded, and (3) you are responsible for your content and must adhere to FCC requirements and our Terms of Use regarding language and conduct.

How do I fix the audio from skipping?

Our media server broadcasts at the high-quality rate of 128 kilobytes per second. Most Internet connections should be able to stream the broadcast without much trouble; however, if you encounter "skipping" or random pauses, the player may be trying to catch up with the stream. To remedy this, try pausing the player for a second or two, then "play".

Podcast Support

Why is there no player for the podcasts?

To play our podcasts, this site uses an Adobe Flash player. If your lastest version of Flash is up-to-date, you should be able to see this player on any given episode page:
     Podcast Player
If this player does not appear, try updating your computer to the latest version of Adboe Flash Opens new window and download the lastest version of your browser.

For Apple mobile device users (i.e. iPod, iPad, and iPhone), Flash is not supported; however, the Clarkcast offers a free iTunes subscription for podcasts to be automatically delivered to your computer and ready for sync'ing to your mobile device. The TuneIn mobile app allows you to hear the 24/7 Steaming Audio feature, which airs live broadcasts.

Why does the podcast endlessly "buffer"?

You may experience the podcast player attempting to buffer the audio for a longer than "normal" time. To remedy this, refresh the page. The podcast should play then (provided you are on a high-speed internet connection).

Why does it give me an error when trying to play the podcasts?

If an error is given, then the Flash player (described above) failed to load. First, verify that you have JavaScript enabled. (How? Opens new window) If that does not fix the problem, then you may not have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed on your computer; click here Opens new window for the latest version.
